Critiques

This slim volume serves as more than just a course on standard historiography, it also charts the most significant "-isms" of the past century in history. This includes Marxism and its "neos" on to world systems and postcolonialism, et cetera. Wilson does an admirable job of cogently presenting these often nebulous theories, admitting that "theorists" like Foucault, Derrida, and the postmodernists often pride themselves on being hard to understand. The "roommate" example he begins most chapters with is, for the lack of a better term, "cute."
