John Wallraff began his theatrical career at the age of six as a child performer on a radio kiddie show hosted by "Uncle" Tom Murray. As a student at the famous Pasadena Playhouse, John Wallraff appeared in numerous plays while studying theater arts and playwriting. He was a fellow student, mentor, afficher plus and longtime friend of Charles Pierce from 1946 until Pierce's death in 1999. For twenty-five years, the author worked as a graphic artist, as well as writing and performing in a musical revue in Hollywood and co-writing material with Charles Pierce for his comedy act. He also wrote and performed stand-up comedy at the Hollywood Purple Onion, The Opera Club in San Francisco, and in Charles Pierce's show at San Francisco's famous Gilded Cage Cabaret.
