Really enjoyable albeit a bit confusing with the same-name characters.

Full Review on my blog!
A lot better than I expected. It kinda reminded me of The Host by Stephanie Meyer, but 100 times better, with way more detail and uniqueness. I absolutely loved this book and thought it was great. The idea of having people in your head makes for an interesting story and I loved the way the author presented in the book.
The Delphi Effect is an extremely action packed adventure from start to finish with many paranormal elements along with some science fiction mixed into an intense thrill ride. This series is classified young adult but I would say with this one the characters and action seemed more on the mature side than a typical young adult read.
This was such a good start to a series, especially with the cliffhanger ending!

Ahhhhh….I wish that the next books in the trilogy were out already! I neeeeeed to know what happens next. I highly recommend it!

This novel is a young adult fantasy about a teenage girl who has inherited the ability to time travel from her grandmother. I thought it was well-written, interesting and intriguing. It was a creative, fun adventure and was a welcome break from my usual historical fiction genre, while containing enough history of the 1893 Columbian Exposition to satisfy my desire to learn something. I was pleasantly surprised by this Amazon Prime low cost offer, as in the past, these have often not been particularly satisfying. The plot was complex enough without being too difficult to keep the timelines straight. I recommend it to anyone interested in time travel fantasies or who want a light-hearted escape. While this book has sequels, this one can be read as a stand-alone, as the ending is not a cliffhanger for the next one.

A young woman is found dead in the middle of a summoning circle. But when the cops arrive the body is gone. Ruth Townsend, the owner of the local paper, know what she saw though. With several twists and turns we finally find out who the killer is, but he ends up going free. For now. Quick read would be worth reading others in series.

I can't wait to continue reading this latest adventure into the CHRONOS Files universe. I feel that the art is beautiful and the story, while a stand alone, really fits into the universe you know and love. I have high hopes on where this adventure will lead us and can't wait to read more! I received this from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Nice little story that fills in some back story on some of the characters from [b:Timebound|18108877|Timebound (The Chronos Files, #1)|Rysa Walker|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1371864811s/18108877.jpg|21990424]. Works very well, but won't make any sense unless you've read Timebound.

A nice and satisfying end to a thrilling series. Got a bit complicated at the end, as all good time travel books do, but not enough to distract from a good read.

Oh no! Pru is now a sympathetic character?! Will wonders never cease? This novella was so much better than the previous one ([b:Time's Echo|22009372|Time's Echo (The Chronos Files, #1.5)|Rysa Walker|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1398370326s/22009372.jpg|41321705]), mostly because Pru is a much more interesting character than Kiernan. I'm torn that a significant issue brought up (Did Pru ever find out that Saul was the bomber, not Katherine?) was not resolved within this novella - I can only assume that it'll be addressed in the final book.

I also liked that the YA Romance angle was only a minimal part of the story.

Very pleasantly surprised by this book. Half expected it to be a fluffy little uncomplicated YA book heavy on romance, but it was actually quite a bit deeper and slightly darker than that. Thankfully, the romance angle was not quite as severe as in, say, Hunger Games, and actually forms an interesting part of the plot (as opposed to just being there in order to add appeal to the teen crowd). Also, Trey did not turn out the way I thought he would. I thought he was working for Saul Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I'm really enjoying this series. Even though this one had a bit of a weaker start than the first one, it made up for it with a strong ending that explored some darker parts of American history. The middle got a little too bogged down in YA Romance stuff, but that was about my only complaint. Was all set to tackle the next book, and I see that it's not even out for another month! Luckily there's a novella to hold me over ([b:Time's Mirror|25810884|Time's Mirror (The Chronos Files, #2.5)|Rysa Walker|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1435502500s/25810884.jpg|45666878]), although that obviously won't bridge the gap until the next.

Timebound is part of The Chronos Files series of books about a group of people from the future whose job it is to time travel and observe history first hand. The problem comes when Kate's grandfather, Saul, decides that human history needs to be changed in order to save the human race. When Kate's mother disappears and her father no longer knows her, she works with her grandmother to foil the changes that Saul seems to be making in the past. Some parts of this story are confusing, but whenever a story deals with time travel, creating overlapping timelines, there is bound to be some confusion for the reader. I liked the basis for the story, even though there was a slow period in the middle of the book when Kate's grandmother had to explain this whole thing to her and us as readers, but overall I enjoyed this story and am glad I gave it enough of a chance to finish the book.

A well throughout storyline

A great read! I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Having to keep the time travel twists and turns made it even better. Add in the historical aspect, and a phenomenal story for any writer, especially a debut writer.

A great continuation

The continuation of this story is well thought out, very well written and attention grabbing. Starting book # three right now!

A great finale

Rysa Walker has written a story that is so much fun to follow, even the times your mind is blown away by keeping up with the time travel. A fabulous series.

Best of the Trilogy

I enjoyed reading Time's Divide best out of the series. I found myself trying to guess who was really on Kate's side until the end.

I like time travel books and this one started out it’s what I though was potential. By the time I was half way through the book foot long and complicated. It took me at least a week to finish the last 25% of the story.

I really enjoyed the first two installments of this trilogy. However, this book really didn't seem to have a direction. It meandered through the same time travel events that characterized the first two stories but without the same sense of adventure, suspense or intrigue of the first two books. The ending was anti-climatic, although there was a tender moment at the end. From beginning to end, This story may have been better as a duology or even a single novel.½

Even time travel moves slowly

This carefully written book could be so much shorter and the pace could be so much faster. Things moved so slowly (even skipping, as I did, the various news articles, pages from manuals, and other non-essential inserts) that I could not maintain any interest in the story or characters.

I received a review copy of "Now, Then, and Everywhen: Chronos Origins, Book 1" by Rysa Walker from 47North through NetGalley.com.½

Timebound, by Rysa Walker

A new author with a new book, praised by Amazon. What could go wrong? Not much!

Meet Kate, a typical teenage girl with a BFF, a smartphone and a mom who dislikes her grandmother. Kate keeps getting these “episodes” where the world seems to shift and twist, like she had epilepsy. It’s not an epileptic fit, it’s a Time Fit (my words). Yikes!

I’ve read plenty of science fiction and love time travel, so the story is a familiar one – a reluctant heroine who realizes it’s up to her to make things right. A medallion that only a few with a special gene can see. And Kate, the most powerful time mage ever, learning the ropes of the family business. And quickly too, since her mentor (a grandmother who actually is a historian from the 23rd century, working for CHRONOS) has just disappeared!

Obviously a lot of research went into this, as 1893 Chicago’s Exposition and its resident serial killer, a Dr. Holmes, makes rather clear.

The author attempts at suspense work well for this reader, though frankly I could have done without the 16 year old squealing about how cute some boy was. But I’m not the target audience, alas.

Characterization:

Kate grows up fast in learning the ropes of time travel and she’s developed well. What’s with this Simon guy and his attempts at murdering the time line? We never meet Saul, apparently her grandfather, with delusions of grandeur and power, creating the Cyrists, a cult as big as the Roman Catholic Church, predicting the demise of Man.

The story rolls along but I’m not that much educated at the end about the Cyrists, other than a tour through their temple (great scene where Kate gets kidnapped and uses some martial arts against Eve, a girl who could also use some character development).

That’s my only beef: not meeting Saul, not really getting into the meat of CHRONOS as an organization, and their naivety in thinking one of their historians would think nothing of breaking the rules to change things to their liking.

The Love Triangle:

YA novels often have love triangles but this one with a twist. Girl meets boy, falls in love, boy forgets who she is on the next time line. Alternatively another boy meets girl, falls in love, and girl forgets boy for the same reason! Yikes! I oddly like that weird kind of twist.

Bottom Line: Really curious how Rysa Walker will turn this all around. Timebound is an intro book, a general introductory chapter of something more. Let’s see where she takes us.

Recommended.

When I pick up a book, I expect to finish it. Therefore, when I don't finish a book, I feel as if I am being disloyal to the author as well as the characters in the book. But, as I have aged into my golden years, I realize that there are more unread treasures for me to savor and I have too little precious time to read a book that I'm dreading picking up for one more chance. Such was the case with this book after reading about a quarter of its length.

I'm a sucker for time travel books. I guess because they combine two of my favorite genres: science fiction and historical fiction. Therefore, when I downloaded a book about a time-traveling research organization employing a number of genetically-enhanced historians I was interested to begin. The book, at least the portion of what I read, was sketchy about the time travel device. Evidently, it was some hand-held fidget device that one would manipulate to travel to particular time periods. I was especially interested in one chosen, the album burning of the Beatles music after John Lennon made some statement about their popularity compared to Jesus. Much of book was a mish-mash of various time periods, which I understand might be by design but I found it very difficult to engage with the characters. Maybe I will pick this one up, if I read better reviews by other readers; however, I doubt it.

Combined review of all three.
A brief review of my reading timeline shows that I'm a sucker for time travel stories so I was already predisposed to like this. And this mostly delivers. Well plotted and paced and well worth the read. My only complaint and this is not really a spoiler but...the young adult trope of a strong female protagonist having to choose between two boyfriends is getting really old.

This was a cute tale, but I can't see how this was a series. I would recommend this for 5 grades and above. Kate is an awesome character. But I just feel weird about the Trey guy. I don't trust him!!
