In the year 2020, four years after his trip to 1930, Sam Harkins is engaged to Avey Riley, the great-granddaughter of Ruth, the girl he loved in depression-era Seattle. One déjà vu incident after another tells him something is terribly wrong. Meanwhile, the timkers agents Vili and Julijana desperately try to patch together the shredded fabric of time as sinister forces try to alter history to escape a dark Orwellian future. When Sam suddenly finds himself back in 1934, and Avey awakens in rural Virginia in 1861, they know someone or something is keeping them apart, controlling time, space and humanity's future.
