Bravo!
Mallory is back in this second installment of her Magic series. She finds herself in the comfort of a new home surrounded by a brand new family, but when her biological family shows up things start to get a bit more than strange. Does Mallory have the inner strength to get her through this trial?
This is a great book. Even for a sequel, it definitely is able to hold its own.
I'm still having a little bit of an issue with the world building as it is not very clear and some of the descriptions make it even more confusing. I understand that this is a fantasy but it would help to be just a tad bit more descriptive of things like what the characters are wearing, what they are seeing in the landscape, what buildings look like exactly and how they are furnished... things like that. We as readers take these things for granted sometimes but they really do help us to understand the characters and the world that they move around in much better. Especially in a fantasy novel that takes place in another world, another time, or even another dimension.
This story was very well executed. A story such as this is sometimes difficult for the author to write and to convey with the correct level of emotion and even urgency but this author definitely does do this well.
I still love the main character by the way. Watching a character grow as a person is a very interesting thing in any book. The author has a very good grip on this and makes her main character Mallory one that most people can relate to in one way or another.
So far this is a very good series and I would be happy to recommend it to anyone who likes a good fantasy novel.… (plus d'informations)

Great storytelling...
Mallory is a magi and therefore shunned by most. She must keep her powers hidden from others. But when a boy is accused of theft by a mob of angry villagers, Mallory steps in in order to save the boy. This begins an epic quest that will ultimately save or doom Mallory.
I personally loved the character Mallory. She was risking her life to help save this small band of complete strangers. That shows me not only her courage but her strength.
The one thing that I had issues with with this book, was the world building. It seemed to be lacking detail in this respect. And my head, I had problems envisioning everything the author was seeing. I was also constantly asking myself is this an older-type world or a newer? It was difficult for me to even get a clear picture of what the characters were wearing. Perhaps this part of the book needs to be fleshed out a bit more.
I do like the way the author describes the power coming from Mallory. I like how she describes it starting in her belly and tingling throughout the rest of her body and her eyes changing color. This added a whole nother level to the character Mallory and I really enjoyed it.
All the characters were very dynamic and most of them were relatable. They were a little hard to keep track of that first because there are a lot of main characters, but eventually you catch on to who is who.
The romance in the story was very cute and was completely unexpected. I feel that that was a nice addition to the story and a very wonderful surprise. And I very much liked the ending.
