Aunque el Islam como una fe puede distinguirse por el grado en que se practica, desafortunadamente en nuestros dí­as, a esta práctica le ha faltado el espí­ritu del Islam. Los rituales se realizan mecánicamente como si fueran solo una clase de costumbre social, mientras que el espíritu del Islam se ha perdido casi por completo. Este libro tiene como objetivo iluminar el resplandor espiritual del Islam (Ahli Sunnah) de la corriente principal y vestirlo en historias de las vidas de los Profetas y sus Compañeros y también en las vidas de los sufíes ejemplares. En particular, muchas referencias a la poesía de Rumi, Yunus Emre y otros sufí­es pretenden unir la pasión de nuestra práctica espiritual con su forma ritual. Si lo escuchamos y hacemos lo que Él dice, entonces escuchará nuestros gritos y nos tomará de la mano. De esta manera nos convertiremos para otros, en una exposición de su bello ejemplo. ¡Esta es la mayor virtud de todas! - Although Islam as a faith can be distinguished through the degree to which it is practiced, unfortunately in our day, this practice has lacked the spirit of Islam. The rituals are mechanically performed as if only a kind of social custom, while the spirit of Islam has been almost totally lost. This book aims to illuminate the spiritual radiance of mainstream (Ahli Sunnah) Islam and to clothe it in stories of the lives of the Prophets and their Companions and also in the lives of exemplary Sufis. In particular, many references to the poetry of Rumi, Yunus Emre and other Sufis aim to unite the passion of our spiritual practice with its ritual form. The chapters on paying charity and poor-due possess great beauty. The deep analysis they afford of the economic philosophy integral in Islam, abundantly demonstrates their inherent value in our grossly material world. In order for us to attain to the superior virtues that will make us acceptable to Allah, we must nourish heartfelt love for the friends of Allah and the Blessed Prophet to whom they are devoted. And it is him that we must follow. For this reason it is hoped that, as we become truly acquainted with the Prophet and take as our model his superior characteristics, which have been praised by Allah, we will have the honour of being amongst those brothers that the Prophet gave glad tidings of. If we recognize him today, he will recognize us tomorrow in that great gathering on the last Day. If we reach a state in which we see him in reality then he will see us. If we listen to him and do as he says, then he will hear our cries and take us by the hand. In this way we will become for others, an exhibition of his beautiful example. El sufismo mantiene a la sociedad despierta contra el letargo y la inactividad en momentos de facilidad y comodidad socioeconómica, mientras que, por otro lado, proporciona alivio a las personas al trazar una forma de reconsiderar los eventos, a menudo aparentemente desastrosos, en tiempos de dificultad. En esta época en que la humanidad está rodeada de problemas y aflicciones de una naturaleza igualmente grande, la forma sufi sin duda puede ayudar a los seres humanos a enfrentar estos problemas, introduciendo soluciones teóricas y prácticas a sus dificultades. El sufismo tiene un significado esencial para ayudar a los musulmanes a mejorar el estado de su religiosidad, además del hecho de que presenta una forma precisa y completa del Islam para los no musulmanes. No hay duda de que el sufismo representa el corazón, la esencia y la dimensión espiritual del Islam general (Ahli Sunnah). Both apparent and hidden enemies of Islam have been attempting to separate Sufism from Islam, which in fact coexist like the body and spirit. In addition to correcting misconceptions about Sufism and pointing to some inappropriate and inadequate practices, this book aims at presenting the inherent beauties of this tradition to interested minds and hearts. In this sense the Sufi tradition is like a boundless ocean; it overflows with scholarly works which truthfully present the authentic conceptions and practices that are integral to the way.
