Personal Reaction: I love the sweet poems in this book. I think every child can find a poem to relate to in this book. This book is really old. It came out in the 60's, There are some simple illustrations throughout the book with a little color here and there. I have always heard the saying, "never judge a book by its cover." That totally applies to this book. The cover has nothing special and the illustrations are really simple, but the poems themselves are priceless.

Classroom Extension: Incorporate this book in a science lesson about weather. There are poems about the sun and different seasons that would be perfect. Also, this book can be used in an agriculture lesson as it has a poem about growing vegetables. if a child is moving on the class you can comfort them with a poem about the excitement of moving.
