Amanda Thomas is an author, historian and linguist with a particular interest in social and medical history. To date her books include The Nonconformist Revolution (Pen Sword, 2020) and The Lambeth Cholera Outbreak of 1848-1849: The Setting, Causes, Course and Aftermath of an Epidemic in London afficher plus (McFarland, 2009); broadcast work comprises London 2000 Years Revealed (Channel 5, 2019), Who Do You Think You Are? (Wall to Wall Media/BBC1, 2016-17 and 2012-13), and The Flying Archaeologist (BBC4, 2012). Amanda has previously worked in journalism, and public relations for television companies including The Walt Disney Company and Television New Zealand. In her early career she was involved with the PR launch of satellite television in Europe. Born in Chatham, Kent, Amanda is passionate about supporting the heritage of the Medway Towns, and also that of Hertfordshire, where she now lives. She edits the historical journal, The Clock Tower for the Friends of Medway Archives Centre and for many years has been a judge for the Alan Neame Award, the annual writing competition organised by the Kent Family History Society. She is a member of the Society of Women Writers and Journalists and has a degree in Italian from the University of Kent at Canterbury. afficher moins
