Courte biographie
Ania Teillard, née von Mendelssohn, was born in Dorpat in the Russian Empire (present-day Tartu, Estonia). Her father Ludwig Johann August Peter von Mendelssohn was a classical philologist and professor of Sanskrit at the University of Tartu. Her brothers Georg von Mendelssohn and Erich von Mendelssohn also became writers. Following the death of her father when she was about seven years old, she moved with her mother Alexandrine von Cramer and siblings to Jena, Germany. After leaving school, she became an actor and writer. In 1909, she published her first novel, Maja. In the 1920s in Switzerland, she studied with psychologist and handwriting expert Ludwig Klages and became a student of Carl Jung
