Excess is collection of 12 stories, edited by Jai Arjun Singh and Nisha Susan. This is indeed a strange collection, there are only one or two stories that I can say I liked. The forward by Nisha Susan says how each stories contributes to 'Excess'- an inference that turns out to be very far-fetched. Manjula Padmanabhan's Feast and Brinda Charry's Thirteen. Vivek Narayanan's Rosie was interesting for a curious light it threw on life in South Africa and Sunetra Gupta's Sweet Love (Recovered) was intriguing for a guy's recall of his childhood memories. With Rajoshri Chakraborti's The Good Boy and Mridula Koshy's Same day, I had this overwhelming feeling that I have missed understanding something here. In Same Day, I had a feeling as if too much was happening for me to be able to grasp. Normally, I would re-read to grasp it, but this time surprisingly did not care.

This is second book, after Popcorn Essayist, I have read that has been edited by Jai Arjun Singh. He was chief reason why I acquired the book, but just as last one it was tad too average. :(
