This is a second book by Maureen Sutton, setting out reminiscences by the people of Lincolnshire concerning folklore events tied to the time of year, most of which are no longer celebrated. Included here are unusual festivals such as Oak Apple Day, Plough Monday, All Fools Day, Thinking Day, Grudge Day, Samphire Day, Tulip Sunday, Kick A Frenchman Day (!) and Mischief Night, in addition to more well known ones such as New Year's Eve, Bonfire Night and Halloween. The oral recollections gathered by the author are supplemented by useful literary references and the whole has been edited and introduced by Shaun Tyas.
