Reviewed for VPRC. This is a "Meh" book. I finished it but it felt a bit laboured. Basically Monty is a 15 year old orphan who has never been adopted. When minding the orphanage while the other younger kids are away on a holiday, an old man stumbles into the building and asks Monty to lie for him. The man is an old superhero known simply as The Cape who is hiding from some henchmen of a evil mastermind known as Bentwordle. After Monty lies, the Cape enlists his help in tracking down some missing printing plates from the Bank which would allow you to print as much money as you wanted. (This is what Bentwordle is after.) To assist Monty, the Cape gives him six superpowers - a different one everyday like invisibility, super hearing, flight, etc - but they each disappear after midnight. Monty tries to catch Bentwordle out but keeps making mistakes.
This is a story about believing in yourself and good versus evil. It would only appeal to junior readers.

This entire series is a wonderful way to learn history or teach it to adolescents. I find today's generations seem to recall more when they learn through other people (pop songs, celebrity gossip, etc.), so what better way to teach history than through someone else's perspective? Yes, "authentic" diaries would be "better", but would the language really hold the modern student's attention? Did the diary writer know what WOULD be important in the context of history? Probably not.

Set in 2001-2002, this is the story of how Ali escapes the Taliban and flees in aboat to end up in Woomera detention center in the middle of Australia. A thought provoking book about how hard it must be to leave all you love (family) and know (culture) and come to a strange land where everyone thinks you are a terrorist. (Especially after the Sept 11 events)p.142 (9/9/01 – 14/09/01)What happened after 9-11
