This book is about a boy named Max who absolutely loves sports. He dreams about them at night and thinks about them all day, even at school! It is not obvious that Max has a disability just by reading the book. Readers have to pay close attention to the illustrations to notice a small hearing aid located on Max’s ear. I love how the authors did not make the main focus of the book about Max’s disability. Instead the focus is on what Max enjoys. I also really like how the illustrator includes diverse characters throughout the book. For example, readers will see a young boy in a wheel chair participating in various activities with Max. I just really love that this book encourages readers to see people for who they are and not for their disability!

Not terribly subtle but a great message appealingly delivered.
