This is easily the best installment in this series yet, by far. I absolutely loved Shannon and JD's stories. Ernest and Tommy were good too, but Shannon and JD, they just kind of hit you right in the heart. I do appreciate the warning inside the book regarding JD's confession, as a survivor of SA. I still went ahead and read it, and honestly, I'm glad I did. Honestly, as much as I was anticipating this coming out, I wasn't expecting to get so emotional while reading. Steen has definitely leveled up his writing, and I can't wait to see what's in store next.… (plus d'informations)

4 out of 5 - I took away a star for Cori - introducing them with the pronouns they/them, and then proceeding to use gendered pronouns and phrases after also saying their (chosen) genderless status would be respected. Not a good look. This just makes it feel like making Cori part of the LGBTQIA+ community was an afterthought for brownie points. Would've been a 5 out of 5 otherwise.

Now that that's out of the way - another great collection overall of stories. The characters are interesting, their stories are captivating. Honestly, I've fallen in love with this series the further in I get. Three serial killers, three unique stories...but maybe a thread connecting all three. I'm very curious to know if I'm right, but I don't want to give any spoilers, so you'll have to decide on your own. I don't know if I had a favorite story, despite all being serial killers, they're all pretty unique in their own ways. Out of all three, I think Karen (aptly named), was somehow the one I'd most expect to hear about in the news. Looking forward to the next book in the series!… (plus d'informations)

Great collection of stories, and I flew through fairly quickly. They're engaging and unique, and true crime lovers will love this crime confession fiction. Again, this could use at minimum a quick run through a free grammar and spell checker, there are some glaring spelling mistakes stopping it from five stars. I don't know if I'd call these chilling, but they're fascinating all the same. I don't know how I feel about all the patients. I did kind of pitied Mother. The system that should have helped her wasn't in place, and she still might have fallen through the cracks. All the confessions are absolutely believable if you watch too much ID.… (plus d'informations)

Loved this collection, and had to go on to book two. An interesting style, could use a little polishing through editing (which would bump it to five stars), but overall it's pretty fascinating. I'm not sure if I like the narrator, but I can appreciate him. I'd love to know more of his story, honestly. Honestly, I have to admit I still enjoy reading the stories of the patients he shares. Easy to fly through each story, and I was a little surprised when I arrived at the end of the book, because I just didn't want to put it down. Can't wait to see what's in store in book 2, family edition!… (plus d'informations)
