Denis Fahey (1883–1954)

The title of the book(let) is misleading in that Chapter I on the guilds of the middles ages doesn't actually begin until after a 41 page introduction (2/3 of the book) describing the conditions of labor and the elimination of religion not only in the workplace but in the State, (Ireland and England in particular), in 1943. Unapologetically Catholic, it relies heavily upon the Social Teaching of Popes Leo XIII and Pius X. The introduction is interesting in that it sees on the horizon much of the industrial troubles we are living through today but is irrelevant to the remaining 23 pages which are the best and simplest explanation that I've ver read of the guild system that ran the civilized world for 500 years.… (plus d'informations)
