About a third of the way through this memoir I started to think this wasn't the book for me, but something held onto me by my toenails and by the time I'd finished reading I was almost drunk with the author's enthusiastic, descriptive narrative of a life lived 'Under The Big Pines.' For 30 years Susan Southam lived in her dream cottage, a cottage she fell in love with as a child. After eventually coming to buy the property after she married, she began her passionate renovation of it's 100 year old rooms. At the same time as the renovations Susan Southam started creating, what was to become, her award winning garden. Those with a deep love for all things 'garden related' will love this book! Read it and enjoy the author's absolute joy and delight in sharing her love of colour and small detail with us all. It's full of some beautiful photography!
