Anyone named Marie Leveau is bound to be a bit out of the ordinary, and that certainly holds true for the main character in this novel. Marie, who is a witch, works, albeit rather unwillingly, for a top secret government entity known as The Organization dealing with situations of the paranormal kind. As Marie deals with a brand new team, a prophecy emerges that hints that she has a much greater role to play in the world's magical fate and much greater power than she ever dreamed of. Can she learn how to tap into and control that power before it's too late? Can a team composed of different magical species work together to prevent the end of the world?

There were some very interesting aspects to this story, as well as some moments that were very touching. The ending, especially, was quite heartbreaking. While the novel was an overall enjoyable read and I would love to read sequels, I do think, however, that the author needs a bit more work before her product could be considered extremely well-written. For example, there are some metaphors that she just constantly reuses. I lost count count of the number of teams the team was chasing "rabbit trails" or going down "rabbit holes." Also, one of the characters, Cassandra, has a very distinctive British accent that is, as far as I could gather, maybe Cockney? However, the way the accent was written, it made it very difficult to understand or figure out how it was supposed to sound. It looked like a cross between French, Scottish, Jamaican, etc., etc. It was a bit overdone, I think.
