Chilling book regarding the saga of the last Jewish hospital in Nazi-era Berlin, which was also for most purposes the last functioning Jewish institution in Berlin, if not the whole of Germany. This little-known institution, the author opines, survived owing to the bureaucratic infighting and contradictions of the Nazi regime, and there are many stories of how some managed to survive, and others didn't. The author (along with a deceased colleague, to whom the book was dedicated) did some deep digging to piece together the story, which is well worth reading.… (plus d'informations)
