All the trees have left, except the one in Goran’s backyard. Just as Goran is thinking of that tree and all the joy it brings to him, he wonders if that tree, too, has departed, Goran returns from school in time to see the tree just as it is pulling up its roots to leave. Goran persuades the tree to rest during the long winter before leaving. During the cold winter, Goran takes steps that could persuade the tree to stay.

The author describes a world without trees, reminding us of how crucial they are to our survival and to our happiness. What is nice is that no trees were harmed in the printing of this book. The publishers used stone paper to print it. It has a different feel to it, and it does not tear, making it more durable.
