I was skeptical about this book since there are lots of dated books out there on lesson planning but I was pleasantly surprised with how great this book is! I've lent my copy to several colleagues and they all agree with me that it's very useful.

The 5 star approach includes:
1. Lesson description
2. Goals and objectives
3. Materials and tools
4. Procedure
5. Reflective assessment and evaluation

As you can see, the premise is well thought through and this kind of design is continued throughout the book. Each chapter is very, very well laid out and described with lots of opportunities to practice lesson planning according to their technique.

Of course, my planning and preparation style is very similar to the authors' approach, so I'm biased about its quality but this should definitely be on the "buy" list for every educator. I particularly liked it from an adult educator's point of view.
