I loved the Care Bears show/movies as a child but haven't really engaged with any of it as an adult. I found a copy of this older book to share with my niece and was just sort of 'meh' about it. The story has a solid message with the bears trying very hard to be a good friend to Grumpy Bear before realizing that letting him be himself is the best way to be Grumpy's friend. The writing is just okay. The illustrations are actually black-and-white outlines that a child could color themselves if so desired.
