What can I say? Some puppies really have a chewing problem.

39 months - This book is a good reminder why I'm not looking forward to having a new puppy in the house. Ack the first year can be rough. O always loves the cat an dog stories.

Uncle Wilfred doesn't go out much. He prefers to watch t.v. This is explained by his young nephew, who tells how one day Uncle Wilfred is given Great Uncle Lester the Adventurer's old hat. Uncle Wilfred has just stepped outside to give the hat a bit of air and he'll be right back because he really likes staying home watching t.v. Yes. Really. Uncle Wilfred likes sitting in his nice, comfortable chair. Um hmm. Meanwhile, the pictures show a very different story as we see what happens when Uncle Lester's hat blows away and Uncle Wilfred has to chase after it! The deadpan narration of how boring Uncle Wilfred's life is compared with the outrageous illustrations of his adventures work perfectly together. This book makes me laugh every time.

Just when this terrible dog is about to be sent away, he seems to forget that he loves to eat any and everything. He reveals tot his family that he is trained after all, but not after leaving a huge mess for the family to deal with.

A family gets a new puppy and he eats everything in his sight. The family tries everything to get him to stop. Right when they are about to give him back he stops chewing everything.

Chewy Louie is the new puppy in the house- only he eats EVERYTHING. When the family finally gets concerned enough to finally do something (you know, when half the house is gone- no big deal) he starts eating normally- or so they hope.

This book would be a good one to discuss hyperbole's and the importance of word choice and details.

Chewy Louie is a favorite in our family of dog lovers. It tells the tale of a mischeivious puppy who chews and eats just about everything in the house (including the house!).

This book followed the life of a cockroach. It was very cleaver and even could teach children a little about the white house. The illustrations were also really go with were from the author an award winning cartoonist.

Chewy Louie is a pup who chews up everything. He does so much destruction that the family might have to get rid of him.

an adorable story of a puppy dog that chews everything! one of my daughters FAVS. Nicely illustrated with many scenes of the disasters a puppy can (in your imagination) make! They are so glad he stops chewing in the end. (he is not a puppy anymore!)

I really like this book! I read this book today at a preschool and both the teachers and children laughed when expected and told me afterward how much they enjoyed the story. It was a huge hit and I liked reading it because I knew my audience was enjoying it. The children told me stories of their own pets that had chewed on items around their home. While the antics of Chewy Louie are exaggerated, the story will strike a cord of understanding and sympathy with pet owners and dog lovers.

"Chewy Louie" by Howie Schneider is a beautifully written humorous story about a little puppy named Louie. Despite the fact that Louie was small, he managed to destroy everything around him: the furniture, the toys, the porch, basically, everything that he could chew on. At the beginning of the story the father used to defend Louie by saying "He is just a puppy". But when the chewing got worse, the family tried to deal with the problem by taking Louie to the vet. The vet assured them that Louie was just a puppy and recommended them to feed him more. That didn't really change anything; Chewy kept on chewing! So, finally the family decided that they couldn't keep him any longer, because the house got completely destroyed. On the last day, when the little boy decides to play fetch with Louie for the last time, he noticed the change: Louie started to bring the stick back instead of eating it. He wasn't chewing anymore!!! Louie was changing; he was growing up. I loved the book because it was fun to read and I could relate to it because I have a dog that went though the "Louie stage" as a puppy and still has a little bit of Louie in him. I would definitely recommend this wonderfully written and illustrated book to the young children ages 3-7. They will learn a valuable lesson before getting a puppy.

A fun, funny and endearing book about a dog that chews EVERYTHING and a very kind and patient family that deals with his destructive habit. Based on the author, Howie Schneider's own dog, Louie. Schneider, an award-winnning cartoonist and nationally syndicated comic strip artist, both wrote and illustrated this book. You and your child will fall in love with the book, Louie and the family. The illustrations and story will help your child develop narrative skills where they learn how to tell the story in their own words.
