Jamie is a new student at private St. Agnes School. Her mother is a busy caterer and first-grade brother Gus is afraid of monsters of all kinds. Her older neighbor and friend Pearlie Wu has died and Jamie is lonely without her, especially being friendless at school. Zoe befriends Jamie and in the process Jamie may be able to become a member of the Secret Circle, a club of girls whose motive is to maintain loyalty to each other. Jamie has to perform acts to get in the group, including one in which she betrays her neighbor. About being true to yourself; friendships that should be real, not forced.
