Arnold Schecter, MD, MPH, is Professor of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences at the University of Texas School of Public Health. He is a preventive medicine physician-researcher who has studied the effects of dioxin and related chemical exposure around the world. Most recently, his afficher plus research has focused on emerging POPs and endocrine disruptors in human milk, blood, and food. Dr. Schecter has served on EPA dioxin advisory panels and ATSDR/CDC dioxin, PCB, and PCDF review groups. - Arnold J. Schecter (b. 1934) is a leading expert on the health impact of dioxins, and a professor at the University of Texas School of Public Health. He is the editor of numerous volumes including Dioxins and Health and Treatment Aspects of Drug Dependence. Dr. Schecter received his undergraduate education at Shimer College and the University of Chicago, his MD at Howard University, and his MPH at Columbia University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine and the American Society of Internal Medicine, and a co-founder of the American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse.
