Anne Saxelby (1981–2021)

Anne Saxelby was an illustrator, author, and cheesemonger. She was born 1981 in Dayton, Ohio and grew up in Libertyville, Ill. She moved to New York in 1999 to attend a studio art program at New York University's Steinhardt School. She illustrated 2 children's books for her mother, Pam Saxelby, afficher plus Josie the Great, and The Great Grace Escape. In 2003 after art school, she began to pursue her longtime interest in cheese. In 2006, she opened her first shop, Saxelby Cheesemongers. She wrote The New Rules of Cheese: A Freewheeling and Informative Guide, published in 2020. Anne Saxelby, who had a heart condition, died at home on October 9, 2021. She was 40.
