This book was a little overwritten, but an excellent depiction of first love and with a fascinating background story. Sweet and simple yet very nuanced - I really liked the way that the author worked the politics into the background. I had a hard time understanding when it took place, however.

The highlight of the book for me was the "About the author" section, three pages long. I wish she would write a memoir, because that, I would surely love.
