A workmanlike accounting of Nazi efforts to Germanize the so-called Warthegau, looking at continuities with anti-Polish policies under Imperial Germany, how Nazi efforts at Polish ethnic cleansing presage the Final Solution and how the efforts to remove the Poles fell far short of Nazi aspirations (at least in the short term) due to economic realities.
