The Book of Complements reminds me of Native American stories in the sense that it transmits a concrete message through abstract symbols. As the title says, this is a story about opposite things like the concept of True and False, Good and Evil or Young and Old and how one can't live without balance. This is how I interpreted the story because I believe each person has a different view on things and therefore a new interpretation of the book. Along the book there are beautiful hand-painted illustrations representing what is being said making it a piece of art itself. It was a magical read.
