Critiques

This is a statistical survey of the major actions, and a detailed look at the Napoleonic Armies in Europe. As usual, the war of 1812 isn't mentioned, but then it was only a colonial skirmish. A good book to accompany Chandler's "Napoleon".

The author died before he could finish this book. This might be the reason why the ugly cover sports an illustration of Napoleon at the winter battle of Eylau while the book covers the summer battle of Wagram. The book is a readable general account of the 1809 campaign in Austria that has now been superceded by Jack Gill's three volume study of the campaign.
