I love Dr. Aviva and her work. I frequently give her books to others as gifts and I often recommend her books, blog and podcast to family, friends and students. This is a good book filled with research and detailed protocols related to a variety of female health concerns. If you have followed Dr. Aviva's work for awhile and have read her other books, you will notice a tiny bit of overlap with some of her other materials, but there is plenty here to feast on, learn from, and implement as well.

The book does contain some profanity, most of it mild with the exception of a few uses of the f-word. I hate that word, so I always remove a star from my book reviews when it is present in a book, but if it had not been included, the book would have been a 4 star book for me.

There are a handful of editing errors which I expect will be corrected in future editions / printings. Nothing terribly distracting.

Behind every person who goes "crunchy" is a(or many) doctor(s) who gaslighted them. Unrelated to the issue in this book, I had massive, worse than childbirth(and I went unmedicated) pain in my side for 3 months and 3 doctors told me it was IBS until the 4th finally discovered it was Epstein-Barr virus. Yay. But also, really? 4 months? Of no sleep at night? As IBS? I have friends who genuinely have it and it doesn't look or sound remotely like what I described.

Anyway. That experience, and others less recent, have jaded me towards unquestionable trust in MDs. So. This book... maybe. Maybe not? I'll need a bit more corresponding and supportive info. Also the second half is poorly organized which leads to confusion. Just saying.

The book contains a lot of interesting information and is written by a medical professional. It offers a comprehensive program to help you solve the emotional and physical symptoms that make you feel sick and tired. Contains questionnaires for assessment, sample menus, shopping list and recipes. The plan is probably worth a try, but I found the writing very repetitive and lacking scientific studies.
