In the world of modern health care and patient advocacy, choice is the operative expression. Patients and families affected and effected by Tourette's Syndrome (TS) and tics are faced with incredible challenges as the illness varies from relatively mild to severely disabling. This book is an excellent source for considering options that may complement or replace some conventional therapies. It is written in an easy, almost conversational, style that encourages the reader to delve further into its contents.
Especially helpful are the references, guidelines and resources which patients and/or families can access to increase their knowledge of alternative treatments.
In addition, the environmental, bio-chemical and physical connections in TS and tics are expressed without guaranteeing "cure" or remission. There is ample acknowledgement that traditional medicine may frown upon the suggestions made in the book and that further scientific research is needed and welcomed.

I am not enough of an expert to comment on the viability of the treatments suggested, but it seems a bit far fetched.

This book was very readable with great explanations. I think that anyone who would like to deal with tics or toourettes would really like this book as it gives good advice in an easily readable way. This isn't a book that would be interesting to someone who wasn't suffering from tics or tourettes or a loved one suffering the same. However, for the target audiences it was a very good book.

Included are medical case histories of children suffering from a variety of symptoms, their trials and tribulations in finding a cure (i.e. medications and doctors' insistence that patients remain on drugs even though they have made patients excessively worse to the point of debilitation), and an easy-to-read reference that is full of alternative medicine ideas to help combat symptoms due to things like particular foods, additives, colorings, perfume, household cleaning products, dust mites and pollen, or genes. It is well organized and offers many promising alternatives to the medical treatments available.
I am a big fan of natural remedies, many of which I have tried out myself over the years with great success. They can be considerably cheaper than medications and can yield more successful results, not to mention no dependency on drug alternatives. Whether you have tried natural remedies before or not, if alternatives have not worked, this book could be the answer to your child's health. The cost of the book is minimal compared to giving your child their life back.… (plus d'informations)
