Written in same poetic style as ‘T’was the Night Before Christmas’, A Cookie for Santa presents plot, main character, problem and solution/happy ending. Cookie is on the Santa Snack Plate contemplating his Xmas Eve death. The puppies come and make a chaotic mess right before Santa’s arrival, and Cookie helps Santa clean up the mess, gets a job at the north pole, and the puppies get a gift certificate to obedience school.

A Gingerbread Boy was prepared for Santa to come and eat. As the cookie waited for his death, the family's dogs begin to rip and tear everything apart. Gingerbread Boy becomes a distraction and calms them both down. Then Santa comes and asks the cookie for help to put everything back together that the dogs messed up, so he did. Santa was so impressed by his great deed that he hired him to help in the North Pole which the Gingerbread Boy gladly accepted.
This book had a poetry theme with a lot of rhyming that set a great flow to the book. The moral of the story was also very nice and the drawings were very creative.
