A human and a very old human eating mermaid cross paths. The human realizes the mermaid "merrow" is up to no good and the merrow says "I've seen you twice now and if I see you a third, I'll kill you". (iirc she said it through telepathy. A skill that leads nowhere in this story.) But that doesn't stop our human from trying to learn more, and the merrow with all her evilness isn't that successful with her threat.

I think the author tried to do too much. There were so many unnecessary bits and so many impossibilities or things that went nowhere. I haven't read too many mermaid tales but is it typical for mermaids to be telepaths or to look human at will or to just walk out of the water and have the tail disappear and start walking? They have instant legs when it's convenient, breath air, talk? // What does that title mean? Waking the Merrow. You'd think it meant someone is a mermaid without knowing it. That didn't happen in book 1.

I won't be continuing with the series and I'm sure the story will fade quickly. It is self-published and I wish for her that she could have got some professional help with the editing. I think she has a story in there.
