Seriously one of the best investment books I've ever read.

And I had my doubts as I've read too many guru investor books that do nothing more than retell the investor's history. While that might be interesting, what I personally want to know it why and how a star investor makes his decisions. This book answers that need and then some. You are not only enlightened about one investment style but three (value, growth and quaints) through exploring how ten legendary investors do/did it. Each individual chapter is almost a book in itself and makes for a useful and robust stock screen. What is so great about how this book is set up is that within these ten different investment philosophies you are sure to find one that fits your investing profile as is or you can tailor it to your individual needs by combining it with other styles/screens. Especially appreciated is each investor chapter contains a table of comparison stats of 10 and 20 model stock portfolios to the S&P for the same period; you see actual performance. Then, after exploring the ten legends of investing, the book goes to part 5 called "From Theory to Practice" which puts together everything previous in the book into a workable whole. The authors advocate a blended style approach for maximum returns and here a little self promoting of their website comes in. Normally I'd be less than enthused about the self promotion but they've put so much work and research into the rest of their book that I let this one slide; they do show you how to do it yourself but you will have to invest some serious time into doing the research (nothing's for free after all). I've already been working with two of the investment philosophies in the book (Greenblatt and Fisher) for some time with success so to have the toolkit of the other legends can do nothing but help. Highly recommended and very enthused - this book has a permanent place in my investment library and is now one of my favorites.… (plus d'informations)
