The writters obviously think that they are witty. This is only half true.

1) I have to admit that I did not read the whole book. Throughout there are information 'boxes' in small italic pink letters. I did not ask my eyes to cope with that.

2) The writers are convinced that they know everything worth knowing, and are insulting about any opinions that don't match theirs.

3) They can't keep to one topic long enough to say what they want to say about it. They constantly drift off to other topics, sometimes to come back to the first one, sometimes it seems the first topic was just an excuse to insult someone before moving on to what they really want to talk about.

4) I'm not sure what they really wanted to say in this book. I suspect that they just thought it would be fun to publish a book. So they did. Unfortunately, I tried to read it. That was certainly a mistake.… (plus d'informations)

Das Buch ist zum einen sehr informativ und witzig. Man erfährt interessante Dinge, nicht nur über Abseitiges wie Schneckenstreicheln, sondern auch über Fragen, die sich jeder schon gestellt hat (Wie kommt das Salz ins Meer? Warum sterben Fische nicht, wenn der Blitz ins Wasser einschlägt?)
Auch von der Aufmachung her ist es ein schönes Buch, der weiche pinke Einband, das hochwertige Papier...
Pink als Schriftfarbe finde ich allerdings ungünstig, da es schwer zu lesen ist. Ein pinkes Lesebändchen wäre auch noch nicht schlecht gewesen.
Ich habe allerdings auch einen großen Einwand zu diesem Buch: Die arrogante Naturwissenschaftler-Attitüde hat mich oft sehr angenervt. Ich bin gläubig, finde Rupert Sheldrake nicht so schlecht, habe mit Homöopathie gute Erfahrungen gemacht und habe meine Tochter nicht gegen Gebärmutterhalskrebs impfen lasen, und das wohl alles nicht, weil ich zu blöd bin, wie die Autoren schreiben. Das nervt - und einige der Scherze, die so betont aufgesetzt sind, nerven auch.
Ins Hörbuch habe ich reingehört, fand die Science Busters gut, Harry Rowohlt zu schleppend, aber das werde ich mir morgen länger zu Gemüte führen und kann dann mehr dazu sagen.
