- Upendra Pokhrel, born on 7th May 1944 in Dhankuta, Nepal, to Bidhyanath Pokhrel and Girija Kumari Pokhrel, was a multifaceted writer who made notable contributions to Nepal's literary and theatrical domains. In 1969, he gained recognition as an author with the publication of his novel titled 'Mimi.' He enriched Nepali literature by writing poems and satirical articles, which he published in various periodicals and magazines. During the 1960s and 1970s, Pokhrel authored and successfully staged theatrical plays in his hometown of Dhankuta.
Academically, Upendra Pokhrel held a master's degree in economics from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu. He utilized his extensive knowledge and passion for the subject by teaching economics for nearly four decades at Dhankuta Multiple Campus. His commitment to education was further demonstrated through his 12-year tenure as the Campus Chief of Dhankuta Multiple Campus.
He passed away on 18th February 2019 in Biratnagar, Nepal.
