Whitley’s account inspired me to vacation in Ireland and golf at several of the courses he recounts. I avoided the headstones out of bounds to the right of Ballybunion’s first fairways. I list copious golfballs to the wind and sea at Lahinch and Tralee. I even had a golfball fly far over my head smacked by basketball legend Michael Jordon. It was a memorable and fun and, surprisingly, sunny vacation.
