Bases on the classical Greek fable by Aesop 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf' which Has been part of the European Germanic folk tale tradition since the 15th century.
This version takes on an aquatic theme, since the wolf no longer poses a real threat to people, the author has cleverly taken advantage of societies fear of sharks (the wolves of the sea) and retold the story in a fun and non threatening way that my four year old adores!
The Paper engineering itself is not over complex, but adds a lovely 3D effect and some of the pages, the clam in particular, are very effective indeed. The finale is a gigantic shark which springs out at the unsuspecting Sprat and made my little Sprat jump too!
