Phillips learned the trade of shape-note composing and publishing from his uncle (William Nolin Jeffress) and began typesetting the annually published songbooks at age twelve. After receiving a degree in business from the University of Arkansas (UA) in Fayetteville (Washington County) in 1973, Phillips continued to work for the company; his wife, Ann, began to work in the business when they married in 1974.

Interesting idea to have the story told from the perspective of the antagonist, but he pulled it off in such a way that I can't imagine the story told any other way. My only complaint is that the ending is abrupt. But overall this is a very well written piece on something that is more than just a realistic story with a realistic goal to strive for - it's told with humor, careful prose with an eye for detail, and without an Ayn Randian diatribe.

Worth reading for the style alone, Marty Phillips has a real gift.… (plus d'informations)
