I've had this book on my shelves almost 5 years now, and after finishing it, I wish I had read it sooner. There is a lot of helpful information on keeping the brain active, not only with intellectual tasks but physical tasks as well.

The variety of anecdotes/stories is a good mix. The author happens to be a neurologist, but don't let her title and prestige fool you into dreading opening this book. She explains the medical aspects of the book in a clear, concise way that helps tackle topics that might otherwise be very complicated, and break them down into smaller, easier to manage and understand chunks.

There isn't anything groundbreakingly new or interesting in here medically speaking, but the proof in the stories is a nice connection to the information being given.

I can't provide an actual, unbiased review as this includes my own story ("Book Brain" on page 132), but the book takes a different approach than most Chicken Soup book. It discusses medical information in layman's terms, then uses the essays as examples of how a person can improve their brain through discipline and determination.
