Jan Chryzostom Pasek (–1701)

Pasek was an adventurer, soldier, and politician. His many activities, typical of a man of his troubled times, provided him with a wealth of material for his memoirs. Pasek's love and mastery of detail, displayed in a rich, witty, and racy colloquial language, have not only given his writings afficher plus lasting artistic value, but have also made them a source of ideas and idiom for subsequent poets and writers.
