Really a book for tourists but some great pictures of Koalas. I was intending to make some sculptures of koalas but life is short! I give it one star.

Large color close-ups of the animals, birds, insects and reptiles exclusive to Australia. Less than 100 pages, but wonderful photos along with text.

This has to be one of the quickest books I've ever read. I'll probably never get to Brisbane in person so I did enjoy looking at it in pictures. I most liked the name "Smellie & Co." in one of the pictures. That made me laugh. I also was impressed by the rocks of Kangaroo Point.½

Very obvious story about how telling lies will get you in the end. Only this time it is a cygnet that is telling the lies.

Why is it so many authors of books for children feel they have to bash them over the head with a moral. Why? Why can't you just write a funny/scary/involving story that has a moral in there, somewhere, that isn't blindingly obvious. Just try, damn it!

Oh, the book is about a Platypus. Whatever

This is a cute book, with photos of emus as the illustrations. Phyllis and Edna are two friends whose friendship has a bit of a hiccup when a new emu moves into the neighborhood.

This is a pretty alphabet book with photographs of a variety of animals (whose names begin with the letter of the page on which they are featured). Most of the animals are Australian, and I wish that the authors had chosen to use entirely Australian animals. It's sort of strange to see elephants and orangutans . . . surely, they could have found Australian animals for every page, as there are loads from which to choose. Still, this is a fun book - my son enjoys finding the various animals which are mentioned in the text.½
