This has a somewhat hybrid character. It is organized like an ordinary dictionary of literary terms, but the headwords are all in German while the explanations are in English.

The book seems to be primarily intended for students who need to know the meaning of literary terminology they encounter in their reading, rather than learners of German who want to be able to use the terms themselves in their writing. The omission of grammatical information (such as the gender of nouns) is unfortunate; German-language glossaries don't usually include this information because it's assumed the native speaker would know this, so it would have been nice if a dictionary intended specifically for non-native speakers provided it. It would have made this a much more useful resource.

The glossary is somewhat in need of updating (I would have liked to see terms for more recent trends in German literature, such as Trümmerliteratur, Wenderoman, or Arbeiterliteratur, as these are culturally-specific and tend not to be included in general English-language dictionaries of literary terms).… (plus d'informations)
