Comments: This is not a book for me to be honest. I don't own a dog and honestly this stuff is a little much in parts. The Astro sweater mentions that the author normally has "a bias against machine-washable wool for dog sweaters" on page 2 she explains that she recommends wool or wool blended with mohair and that she has found that with frequent wearing and washing machine washable wool sweaters fall apart after one season. She also suggests using cashmere or alpaca for very small dogs.
Having said that, yes she goes into detail about how to knit these, if you have a cat you might be interested in the Wally bed (a felted pocket/blanket/hidey hole), the Lyubi blanket could be adapted for any sort of wrap and it's a garter stitch stepped deal that could be made bigger or smaller for any purpose and the chickies toy (supposed to look like a chicken leg but I didn't see that until it was pointed out to me). It also occurs to me that the collar cozy has some uses that they didn't think of... then again I know too many wierd people.
Her detail about knitting and dyeing is quite good and some of the adaptation and colour work is interesting so the book is worth a look for that. For me it had somewhat of a train wreck quality. One of the designs, Little Penny, featured in Knitty (Fall 2003)
