Amy Frost is failed comedian, college drop out, alcoholic who lives in her mother's basement. She lives in her hometown - Ballast, Colorado where everyone knows everyone and their business, there's no excitement, and chance for improvement. Amy works as a waitress at Monty's Diner with her best friend Mary Anna. She has no social life, no boyfriend, and no real plans for the future. Enter Arnold Dooley, a senior citizen who was tried and acquitted for the murder of his wife of forty years. He feels as though Amy is someone whom he can trust and begins to slowly tell her the story of his wife's murder. Arnold continues to deny guilt. The more Amy listens to his story, the more she believes that he is telling the truth. As she tries to find answers, she realizes that not everyone is who she believes them to be and not everything is as it seems. She finds the truth about her father who had left her freshman year of college never to be seen or heard from since. Connections are made, lives and freedom are put at stake and evil deeds are brought to light.

Frost was an excellent read. I finished it in 9 hours. The character development was great. The plot was well thought out. Wonderfully written in all aspects.

I was given this ebook in exchange for a fair and honest review by Hidden Gems Books.
