We Cheer by Namco is a dance-style cheerleading game for the Wii. The characters are big-eyed, cartoonish girls reminiscent of Bratz dolls, and players can customize their avatars with a huge variety of colors, outfits, and other options. The various play options include Exercise Mode, Campaign Mode, and Party Mode; depending on the option, up to 4 players can participate. For one, two, or three players, two Wii remotes (actual remotes, not nunchuks) per player are required—meaning that in order to have a three-player game, a household would need to have 6 Wii remotes, which is unlikely. In 4-player mode, however, only one remote per player is required. The game features 30 lively songs by their original artists, including “I Want Candy” and “Footloose,” but the faster songs have to be unlocked through success on easier tunes, which may be harder than one would expect: the cheering itself requires a lot of coordination and rhythm, and will be challenging for those new to this kind of game or to cheerleading. However, it’s a good, fun workout with eye-catching visuals, and is likely to be popular where games like Just Dance or Dance Dance Revolution are in demand. Recommended; ages 7+
