Lajos György Nagy

I remember growing up with this family in our community (a lifetime ago). I remember Lajos-bacsi telling me his account in Vietnam while he was helping my Dad and me upgrade electric service into our home. I remember his late wife, Mary. I remember his son and daughter.

Upon reading his memoirs, I can say with every degree of certainty I come to appreciate this person later in life. It is unfortunate how his journey molded him. Our journeys in this lifetime do have a direct bearing on all of the fruits we then yield.

I enjoyed reading his voice as a narrative. I can visualize him speaking these words to me as if he were still here. I learned much too late how talented this man was. He was patriotic, tactful, and home-oriented. I did not realize how good his poetic voice was.

It also reminds me of my service in the United States Navy. How we were professionals in readiness -- always ready to protect and defend and to cross the line if needed. I too remember those whom I knew that fell for the cause of liberty and to those who faltered.
