The Looming Storm by Diane and David Munson is an action-packed suspense thriller. Never having read anything from the Munsons before, I didn't quite know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised at this story that is totally believable and definitely an edge of the seat kind of book. There are a couple of story lines running throughout which help to give insight into how federal agents have to coordinate their home and work lives. Smuggling cigars, spies from Russia and students on a trip to Poland when their boat is hijacked keep Eva (ICE agent) and Griff (FBI agent) on their toes, trying to sort it all out. Are Russian spied being into the States from Cuba? Is Russia on the move for some kind of showdown or is it all just about smuggling Cuban cigars. The agents are working on a case that has "more twists and turns than a roller coaster." The authors, ex-Feds themselves bring a credible story that is as it is advertised--a high velocity suspense. I'll be checking out their other books!

It is hard to believe that I have not read a book by these authors. After reading this explosive high volume action and suspenseful story, I will be going back and looking for more of their books. The story is packed with characters that are strong , determined and fierce. I loved how the characters prayed about things and put Him first in every decision.

Eva Montana is a federal agent for ICE and is very good at her job. She is smart, and very detail oriented. These qualities make her well known and a person you would want on your side. When her daughter goes on a class trip to Poland, Eva tells her to be careful and to always be aware of her surroundings. I don't know if I could let one of my children go off on a trip overseas. I loved the faith that Eva and her husband David had . While on her trip Kaley runs into danger. This leads to a very dangerous rescue attempt. Will Kaley's parents use their influence to get their daughter to safety? I absolutely love the action in this book. It flows seamlessly with edge of your seat thrills that makes you feel chills up and down your spine.

The story is riveting and involves Russian spies that will have the Munsons racing to find out the truth and stop whatever plots the Russians are involved in. Their faith is unwavering as danger surrounds them. Can they find out the truth behind the Russians plot? As the intense danger increases, the authors do a great job of keeping readers guessing and a book that you will not be able to put down. This is one of the best thrillers I've read in awhile . I loved the details that made the story so believable where danger is around every corner, secrets that could cause destruction and an ending that you won't forget.

"Worry is really thinking God won't get it right."

I received a copy of this book from The BookClub Network for an honest review.

Title: The Looming Storm
Author: Diane & David Munson
Pages: 318
Year: 2016
Publisher: Micah House Media LLC
My rating is 5+ stars.
Each time I pick up a novel by the dynamic duo of David and Diane Munson, I know I better be prepared to be engaged for the ride of my life! The husband and wife team write exceptionally tension-filled suspense for fans of fiction, faith and family. I came across their work of fiction a couple of years back and have been watchful for whatever is coming out from their pens for me to read, review and share with others. Here is a list of the books before this latest novel: Facing Justice, Confirming Justice, The Camelot Conspiracy, Hero’s Ransom, Redeeming Liberty, The Joshua Covenant, Night Flight: Truth Seekers, Stolen Legacy and Embers of Courage.
If you haven’t heard about the authors or any of these novels, don’t waste another minute! Just grab one and start reading. Readers don’t need to worry about there being any offensive material in these novels because there isn’t any. The authors write from knowledge, experiences and lots of research.
In The Looming Storm, we again get to be wrapped up in the latest case of Federal Agent Eva Montanna. Eva’s daughter Kaley is in Poland with other students for a week when Russia decides to make military moves that now endanger the students. Plus there seems to be someone hacking personal information of various agents and agencies that puts the agents and their families at high risk. Eva is trying hard to maintain a balance between her job, marriage, family and a world on the precipice of possible war.
As I read The Looming Storm, there was a sense to me like I was reading current events. What impacted me most was instead of taking simply a story filled with characters dealing constantly with threats and danger to the nation, there was a deeper message. There is a spiritual aspect that comes through strongly after Kaley’s experience as she seeks to understand current events through scriptural understanding of prophecy. I think readers will be in one way challenged to look at reality through the Bible and face any dangers or threats not in human strength, but in Christ. When Kaley was trying to make sense of her experiences and answering the “why” question in order to understand what Russia was doing in this work of fiction, she turned to the Word of God. In doing so, her character saw how God is in control and how she could face the future with courage because of God’s promise to always be with her no matter what came into Kaley’s life.
Can we not also be filled with courage as we believe God is in control and He will never abandon us? What hope we have as we learn to depend on Christ daily and watch with expectation to see what He is doing! I so enjoyed this novel and cannot wait for another book from these authors who encourage, challenge and share the message of Christ through their work.

THE LOOMING STORM BY DIANE AND DAVID MUNSON
Wanted to read this book because our granddaughter had just visited some overseas countries with a handful of other girls and chaperones.
Scared us to death knowing she would be so near where there was terror attacks but she was watched via other military friends of our son and even photographed at same locations as her and the others.
This one starts out in VA where Eva is just getting the kids out the door for school and husband Scott to work. After she leaves home the new elderly neighbor approaches her and informs her of a man asking about her and if she had men around.
Fred had never met her so didn't quite answer the man-he just wanted to alert Eva. At a lunch time meeting a gun is seen and shooting starts as the man wanted the women testifying in a case silenced. With her and her agent friend they have the area under control.
Her husband is involved with the new Supreme Court appointee and their lives surround the DC area. Never a dull moment. Although there are little things that happen they have time to pray as the clues come in, sometimes in droves, sometimes dribble til you get the idea they are a very active family.
Their work keeps them in the action, fast paced at times but easy to keep track of it all as it encompasse so many things.
Book also follows their daughter who's visiting Poland...more terrifying events occur as each of the parents work on other cases and their identities have been stolen... There are many things I liked about this book: the mysteries and how they are linked, the travel and learning new words and procedures when in other countries along with how praying helps.
The one common thing is that praying to God seems to help them and their friends with their problems, even Kaeley who's in Poland...wicked good book and there is a list at the end of other works by the authors. Lots of twists that keep you so interested you will not put the book down.
I received this book from The Book Club Network (bookfun.org) in exchange for my honest review.
