I enjoyed reading this book and gave it 4 stars. I thought that the characters were human and the plot moved along well. The lead detective, Ryan Doherty, uses a psychic/empath as a consultant to help him solve cases. He is also in a relationship w. the psychic, started during a previous case covered in book 1, "Town Red", of the series. I have not read book 1, but I thought that this book read ok as a stand alone. I am going to add "Town Red" to my TBR list.
I believe the use of psychics by police departments is fairly rare but not unheard of. This is the first murder mystery that I have read where a psychic is used as a consultant. It certainly helps to move the plot along, by sending Ryan to places where clues are found or where a murder is happening. This has all the elements for a "Castle" episode.… (plus d'informations)
