K. L. Mittal

K. L. Mittal, an internationally recognized expert in the field of adhesion, worked, until 1994, at Skill Dynamics, an IBM Company, Thornwood, New York. The editor or co-editor of about 60 books dealing with surfactants, adhesion, polymers, and surface contamination and cleaning, including afficher plus Metallized Plastics, Particles on Surfaces, the Handbook of Adhesive Technology, and Polyimides (all titles, Marcel Dekker, Inc.), Dr. Mittal has been invited to give many lectures worldwide. He is a Founding Editor of the Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology and serves or has served on the editorial boards of numerous scientific journals. A Fellow of the American Institute of Chemists and the Indian Chemical Society, he has been selected as a Robert L. Patrick Fellow by the Adhesion Society for his outstanding contributions to the field. In addition, he has received many awards and honors, including the Adhesives Age Award, the Dudley Award of ASTM, and the Thomas D. Callinan Award of the Electrochemical Society. He is also listed in many biographical reference sources. Dr. Mittal received the M.Sc, degree (1966) in chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India, and the Ph.D. degree (1970) in colloid chemistry from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. A. Pizzi is Professor of Industrial Chemistry at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Technologies des Industries du Bois (ENSTIB), University of Nancy I, Epinal, France. A well-known industrial consultant on wood adhesives and panel products, Dr. Pizzi is the author or coauthor of more than 500 research and technical articles, contract reports, patents, and international conference papers-on wood adhesives and their application technology. He is also the author or coeditor of several books on wood adhesives, including Advanced Wood Adhesives Technology, the Handbook of Adhesive Technology, and Wood Adhesives: Chemistry and Technology, Volumes 1 and 2 (all titles, Marcel Dekker, Inc.), and is the recipient of numerous international prizes for new industrial developments in his field of specialization. Dr. Pizzi received the Doctor of Chemistry degree (1969) from the University of Rome, Italy, the Ph.D. degree (1978) in organic chemistry from the University of the Orange Free State.
